Evolution of number of customers
Over the last two years the substantial decline in the pace of new housing construction has had a negative impact on customer capture. Nonetheless, the Spanish gas sector is achieving considerable penetration both in absolute terms and in comparison with the European context.

Since 2005 the number of customers has risen by 17.5%, while over the past three years close on 700,000 net customers have been captured, 178,000 of these in 2009.

A total of 1,450 boroughs have natural gas distribution networks, 500 more than in the year 2000. Despite this progress, it should be remembered that Spain has more than 8,000 boroughs.
