Energy in Spain > Introduction

Introduction

For the second year running there was a downturn in demand for energy in Spain. This circumstance was brought about by the drop in economic activity which began in the second half of 2008 and remained constant throughout 2009.

As in 2008, in 2009 there was an increase in installed power from renewable energies, although the rate of growth was lower for some forms, for two reasons: credit restrictions and certain administrative problems.
